A carpet quotation should distinguish the area installed from the quantity purchased. Add preparation, removal and edge details separately to check the complete fitted cost.
Installed area and ordered material can differ
Measure each room and agree a layout for the selected carpet. Broadloom cutting, seams and pattern matching can affect the ordered quantity; carpet tiles need a layout and a stated allowance for cuts or retained spares. Ask the supplier to explain the order quantity instead of applying one waste percentage to every product.
Identify the product, backing and installation method. Interface publishes separate instructions by backing and requires checks of product, quantity and floor condition in its installation guidance. Use the selected manufacturer’s requirements to define preparation and installation; guidance for one carpet system should not be assumed to cover another.
Ask for these units
State box or roll rounding and ownership of spare material. Do not compare it automatically with the net room area.
List old-floor removal, adhesive removal, substrate repairs and laying separately, with the inspected conditions recorded.
Identify thresholds, stair work, skirting adjustments, furniture moves, delivery and disposal.
Worked arithmetic: supply versus laying
Assume an agreed hypothetical order of 52 m² for a 48 m² installation. At invented inputs of AED 60/m² for supply, AED 20/m² for laying and AED 400 for removal, the subtotal is (52 × 60) + (48 × 20) + 400 = AED 4,480. These numbers are a calculation exercise, not carpet prices or a company rate.
The example’s extra 4 m² is an assumed order quantity, not a recommended waste allowance. Replace it with the supplier’s layout and actual pack quantities. Confirm whether adhesive or underlay belongs inside the laying line before adding it again.
