Before carpet fitting, measure every room and note the existing floor, door clearances, stairs and adjoining finishes. Choose the exact carpet and installation system, then arrange furniture removal and delivery access. The checklist below covers the information needed before installation day.

What to prepare before carpet fitting
Start with a room schedule that identifies each area, intended use and existing finish. Add dimensions, photographs, door and threshold details, stairs, floor boxes and the adjoining finishes. Then attach the selected carpet reference and installation information if a product has already been chosen.
Do not mark the floor “ready” solely because it looks level through the old finish. Removal, surface cleaning and a documented inspection may still be required before the final preparation method is confirmed.
