Home Renovation Timeline Dubai
A home renovation programme becomes useful when it shows dependencies: what must be measured, approved, selected or tested before the next activity can begin. Room count alone cannot establish a reliable finish date.
The stages that control the programme
- 01
Survey and brief
Resolve included rooms, retained elements, defects and access. Identify investigations that could change the design so they are scheduled before final pricing or fabrication.
- 02
Design and approvals
Coordinate the layout with electrical, plumbing, AC and joinery. Prepare the submission package needed for the property and allow time to respond to review comments.
- 03
Procurement
Confirm product availability and delivery dates after selection. Order bespoke items from approved drawings and verified dimensions; record which measurements depend on strip-out or installation.
- 04
Site work
Plan protection and removal, then first fix, backgrounds and finishes. Keep inspections, system tests and product curing requirements in the schedule as separate activities.
- 05
Handover
Allow for connections, commissioning, snag corrections and cleaning. Book moving furniture after the areas needed for occupation have passed their checks.
What can run together?
| Decision | Useful overlap | Dependency to preserve |
|---|---|---|
| Material selection | Review samples while coordinated drawings develop. | Do not order a size-sensitive item before its dimensions are established. |
| Off-site manufacture | Fabricate approved joinery while site preparation continues. | Confirm final openings, floor levels and service positions first. |
| Room phases | Work in separate zones with agreed protection and routes. | Shared services and access may prevent the zones from operating independently. |
| Final checks | Prepare manuals and warranty records while snagging proceeds. | Close defects and complete the required tests before occupation. |
Use selection deadlines alongside site dates
Ask for a decision list naming the product or drawing, the person approving it and the latest decision date. A tap choice may affect first-fix positions; a flooring thickness can affect door clearances; a late worktop change may affect fabrication. These connections should be visible before a selection becomes urgent.
Review progress against completed work and upcoming gates, not a percentage alone. If the finish date changes, ask which dependency changed, what it affects and whether the proposed recovery is workable. Compressing inspections, curing or commissioning does not recover time safely. A revised programme should show the new sequence and responsibilities.
- Track approvals, deliveries and decisions separately.
- Confirm access bookings before bringing large items to site.
- Keep a final snag visit and handover appointment in the programme.
Example: three selections that affect later work
Use a dependency register for products that connect to several trades. These examples show what the programme should establish before an order or installation is released.
| Decision | Decision to record | Dependent work to coordinate |
|---|---|---|
| Floor finish | Product, installed build-up, room boundaries and transition detail. | Door clearances, skirting, thresholds and fixed joinery. Changing thickness after installation can require adjoining work to be altered. |
| Concealed shower fitting | Complete model, valve or body, fixing and access requirements. | Plumbing position and wall construction. Approve the installation information before closing the wall; a similar-looking replacement may need different hidden components. |
| Custom kitchen worktop | Surface, edge, sink, joints and the supplier’s measurement stage. | Cabinet completion, templating, fabrication and final connections. Keep the measurement and delivery appointments linked rather than treating them as independent dates. |
