Bathroom Renovation Materials
Choose bathroom finishes for their location: a shower floor, dry wall and vanity have different demands. Review tiles, joints, fittings and joinery together, with the selected products’ technical and cleaning information.
Build the palette by exposure
A photograph cannot confirm floor suitability. Ask for product documents and a physical sample of the exact finish.
Check the drain, falls and setting-out before choosing the format.
Large formats may reduce joint count but need workable cuts around niches, fittings and openings.
Keep plumbing access and removal of serviceable components practical.
Coordinate ventilation, lighting and access panels before the ceiling is closed.
Design joints and edges with the tile
Set out the tile around the drain, doorway, shower boundary and fittings. A large tile that looks calm on a wall can need awkward cuts on a small sloping floor. Compare format options on the actual plan and elevations; decide where cuts, trims or mitred edges will sit before ordering.
Specify grout and the sealant joints required by the assembly. Check colour against the tile sample and confirm cleaning compatibility with the selected surface. Include niches, ledges and the junction with the vanity. Those details are handled and cleaned regularly, so their geometry and finish matter beyond the main colour palette.
Check fitted products before approval
Choose a maintenance routine the household can follow. A finish that needs care beyond normal use may be unsuitable even when it fits the visual concept.
- 01
Confirm the complete model
For taps and concealed systems, identify both the visible part and the required body or valve. Check that the supplier schedule includes all installation components.
- 02
Check geometry and support
Draw door swings, basin use and shower access on the room plan. Confirm fixing support and service access with the installer before closing backgrounds.
- 03
Approve and retain records
Keep product codes, finish, size and supplier details beside approved samples. Confirm availability and collect cleaning instructions; retain spare tiles where agreed for future repairs.
